On July 3rd, 2026, Chief David Gagnon of the Cottekill Volunteer Fire Department was killed in the line of duty.  It's something every fire department member fears, yet accepts.  This one hit especially hard to NY III as one of our Active Members, Ernie "GE" Navarra, was on scene when it happened.  To support our brothers, Red Knights from NY III, NY 23, NY 28, and NY 53, paid tribute by escorting Chief Gagnon to his final resting place in Saratoga National Cemetery.
